Toothache

Toothache usually refers to pain around the teeth or jaw. In most instances, the cause:

  • a dental cavity
  • cracked tooth
  • exposed tooth root
  • gum disease
  • disease of the jaw joint (temporomandibular joint
  • spasms of the muscles used for chewing.

Treatment

  • thoroughly rinse your mouth with warm water
  • use dental floss to remove any lodged food.

If your mouth is swollen, apply a cold compress to the outside of your mouth or cheek.

Never put aspirin or any other painkiller against the gums near the aching tooth because it may burn the gum tissue.

Call Gentle Dental Care as soon as possible so we can assess the cause, treat the problem and relieve the pain.
